Oak's good wishes
Oak and Mrs Thornton live a happy retirement in Florida these days and have lotsa' time to play with his grandson Evan. Today, Oak plays 'little friend' with a Mustang and makes a pass over Evan's Liberator #77 that, you guessed it, was the one he was the tail gunner in. Oak even did the authentic nose art on the model.

Most tail gunners in WWII never even got to see their grandchildren let alone play nice like Oak and Evan.
